The world of financial trading is tough, competitive and male dominated but Snigdha Singh has stormed to the top by becoming a director of fixed income rates at Lehman Brothers, one of only four women to do so. India-born Singh completed an MBA at the Indian Institute of management at the age of 23, where she was awarded the JP Morgan Scholarship for Best Female Exchange Student. She joined the Lehman Brothers trading floor in 2002, was promoted to associate within a year and scooped the director job at just 27.

Keen to encourage other women, Singh participated in a “women in trading” round table chaired by Carroll Thatcher and has travelled to Indian universities to help with graduate interviews. “She is unquestionably one of the most talented young women operating in our organisation,” says Lehman’s executive director Raj Ray.
