Ushrat Sultana has been working for the Office of Margaret Moran as the MP's Parliamentary Manager since December 2003 and assisted her to a record third term in parliament in the 2005 General Election.

In 2005 Ushrat successfully bid for £126,500 from the Home Office to implement a joint venture between the office of Margaret Moran and New Scotland Yard to confront the issue of forced marriages. As a result, three innovative pilot projects have been planned in London and Luton and the UK's first ever National Forced Marriage Working Group has been set up. Ushrat also recently set up Transitions Business Group to confront the issue of violence and abuse against women and children.

In 2004 Ushrat was appointed Justice of the Peace and is the youngest serving magistrate in Bedfordshire. Additionally, Ushrat is the carer of her 20-year-old brother who is severely disabled.
