MPCL WEEKLY RESULTS
 
 

Greetings! Cricket Lovers

Lankians remain on top of division one following their victory over Rajput Samaj. Indrajit Coomaraswamy took 3-11, whilst Sujith Kumarsinghe having taken 3 catches and a stumping as wicket-keeper turned his arm over to take 2-8. Rajput Samaj were bowled out for 105 with Nilesh Patel making 38. Lankians were never in too much trouble as they eased to 106-6. Sri Lankan Cavaliers gained ground on Lankians by posting 216 against Embassy and than bowling out the latter for 169. Udayakumara Kapugama top scored with 66 and than took 5-29 for Lankians.

In division 2, Kingsbury Construction emerged as winners in their top of the table clash with Anson. Anson were well poised at 135-4 but crashed out on 159 with the swing bowling of Suresh Gopal accounting for 5-41. Dharmesh Mepani (44) and Naresh Mepani (19no) were at hand to see Kingsbury home by 2 wkts. Akash Christian (72) and 4-22 from skipper Bharat Patel were the highlights in West Harrow's 4 wicket win over Lohana. Welldon's Ramya Upadhya continued his good form with 69 in Welldon's total of 242 against Bharat Olympians. Veteran spinner Dipen Shah made his most notable contribution of the season and the best bowling figures for the weekend's league fixtures with 7-34 as Bharat Olympians could only manage 198. Nishant Makwana made a defiant 71 for Bharat Olympians. Three wickets a piece from Shaikh Iqbal 3-25, Sivender Dhillon 3-26 and Vimal Narendra 3-27 of Magenta Security were enough to restrict Muktajivan to 153. Vimal Narendra (56) lead Magenta on their way to 155-6 to secure a rare win for this season.

Kondor maintained their pole position in division 3 with a comfortable win over second placed Dharmaj. Harshad Patel (5-19) was instrumental in restricting Dharmaj to 133, which Kondor passed with 5 overs to spare lead by 51no from skipper Rishi Kotecha. EKTA were struggling at 52-5 against Youth Wing, however a 74 run partnership between Zakir Hussain (55) and Jatin Patel (22) gave them a defendable total of 158. Youth Wing never quite got to grips with the EKTA bowling and were bowled out for 136. Viveck Khurana made 53 in Capital's total of 151 against United Sports for whom Imran Ismail took 4-27. Umang Patel scored 52no as United raced to a win. Bottom of the table Centurion gained an easy 4 wicket win over Ramgharia.

On a very poor wicket, Young Lions made 162-9 in 40 overs against Regency. Young Lions batted first and got off to a good start as Rajiv Tanna made 46. The departure of Rajiv Tanna, sparked a collapse as 5 wickets fell for under 35 runs. Anup Rughani batting at number 9 made 32not out from only 21 deliveries as Lions finished on 162-9. Regency chasing 163to win lost wickets early as the new ball partnership of Niraj Rughani and Kunal Vasa picked up 5 wickets. Regency managed to claw their way back into the game needing 10 runs from the last 5 overs with 2 wickets in hand. An excellent catch youngster Arjun Shah left Regency needing 1 run for victory with the scores tied and the last pair at the wicket with 12 balls to go. Skipper Rajiv Tanna managed to bowl the last batsman as the game ended in a tie.
