MPCL WEEKLY RESULTS
 
 

Greetings! Cricket Lovers

Lankians have opened up a 3 point gap at the top of division 1 after their 222 run win over Stanmore Jaffrey's. Sankalpa Gunasekara and Priyankara Perera put on 72 in 12 overs for the 1st wicket. Suranga Dalluwatta and Jezal Marzook put on 127 for 4th wicket partnership in 14 overs. Suranga scored his 160 in 83 Balls (hundred in 61 Balls) including 8 sixes and 21 Fours. Lankians finished on 364-7 in 40 overs. Stanmore got off to a comfortable start but leg spin from Sujith Kumarasinghe (19 for 5) and medium fast bowling of Ravi Rajah (9 for 3) restricted Stanmore Jeffries 142 all out in 31.5 overs. Sri Lankan Cavaliers defeated Rajput Samaj, however were unable to gain maximum points. SLC made 207-8 in 40 overs with Pasan Weeraratne 44 and Udayakumara Kapugama 42. Rajput were easily contained as they finished on 164-9 in their 40 overs.

Kingsbury Construction beat West Harrow by 3 wkts in a closely contested match. West Harrow batted 1st and scored 186 off 39.4 overs. Bowling honors for Kingsbury Construction went to Nitin Sehgal with 5-31 In the run chase, Kingsbury Constructions then recovered from a precarious 45-4 to end up with 187-7 off 39.2 overs, thanks largely to a 97 run 5th wkt partnership between Nitin Sehgal (56) & Suresh Gopal (40). Anson have taken advantage of the West Harrow defeat by opening up a 15 points gap between the two clubs. Darren Mathura (102) and Kirit Chhaniara (78) helped Anson post 325-9 in 40 overs. Anson than restricted Muktajivan to 223-9. Muktajivan have now lost 5 games in a row. Lohana's Dignant Popat was unbeaten with 106 against Welldon in their comfortable 92 run victory.

Division 3 leaders Kondor had another comfortable win as they remain clear of the chasing clubs. Tirath Shula (93) and Rishi Kotheca (55no) were instrumental in posting 234-5 against Youth Wing. Narendra Patel 6-30 and Harshad Patel 3-14 than helped dismiss Youth Wing for mere 93. Dharmaj's Sebastian Anthony made 103 as they posted 223-6 against United Sports. Hemant Patel took 3-15 as United struggled to 69-6. Riya Athem 95 lead a recovery, however United Sports were all out 7 short of the target and 11 balls to spare. Masood Rahman (98) and H. Samra (87) had a field day as Ramgharia made 300-7 against Capital; Varneet Shukla was the pick of the Capital bowlers with 5-50. Capital could only muster 105 in reply. Centurion CC are no longer part of the MPCL as they were unable to meet the financial requirements.

The race for promotion is beginning to gain momentum with 14 points separating 5 clubs. Amit Patel of Suraj scored 102 in their win over Regency. Sayona enjoyed a third successive win, this time against Indiana by margin of 68 runs. Sayona batting first were on 175-5 but collapsed to 195 all out with Ishtiaq Ahmed making 68. Indiana were unable to keep on track as they were dismissed for 130. Young Puthoharis opening pair put on over a 100 for the first wicket, however Young Lions managed to keep them down to 234-8 in 40 overs. Young Lions were in control as they were 175-1 at one stage with Kunal Vasa (94) leading the charge. With 35 runs needed in 10 overs, the loss of Kunal saw Young Lions go into free fall as they were all out for 226.

Neasden II maintained their position as top of division 1 2nd XI table with an easy win over Welldon II. Welldon were all out for 131 which Neasden II smashed in 14.4 overs as Dev Patel and Nayan Patel made 54 and 31 respectively. Nabeel Khalid (51 and 3-19) and Magan Sukha (40) were the main contributors in United Sports II win over Rajput Samaj II.
