MPCL WEEKLY RESULTS

Greetings! Cricket Lovers

The weather played another major part in this weekend's fixtures. The much awaited clash in division 1 between undefeated Lankians and Sri Lankan Cavaliers turned out to be a bit of a damp squib. Lankians got off to a flying start with 18 in the first two overs but were than shot out for 99 in 22 overs with Sanjeeva Korala and Nabeel Shah taking 5-39 and 4-26 respectively. Lasitha Gunasena took 5 catches behind the stumps. Duminda Abeytunga than set about the Lankian's bowling attack with a quick 47no as Sri Lankan Cavaliers reached their target in 11.1 overs.

All the matches in division 2 were washed out. Kingsbury Construction are now 42 points clear of third placed West Harrow, thus assuring themselves of promotion to division 1 for 2007 season.

In division 3, Dharmaj managed to restrict Youth Wing to 163 thanks to the bowling of Sebastian Anthony (3-25), Hemant Patel (2-19) and Nirav Mehta (2-25). Kunal Patel than scored 53 as Dharmaj reached their target with 11 balls & 5 wickets to spare. EKTA dealt a blow to United Sports hopes of promotion with a 62 run win. EKTA made 219-6 in 40 overs with Ashan Ullah making 75 and Imran Ahmed 69. Although Jignesh Patel made 65 for United Sports, there was no other significant contribution as they were bowled out for 157. Jayesh Patel was the pick of EKTA bowlers with 3-25.

Four teams still remain in contention for promotion in division 4 with only 12 points separating the clubs. Suraj are no longer part of league after forfeiting their 2nd game this season and announcing their departure. In the 2nd XI competition, Welldon II defeated United Sports II thanks to Jigar Shah (72) and Krunal Patel (58).
