Greetings! Cricket Lovers The weather had a dramatic effect on the 1st round of Baker Tilly cup games that were to be played on Sunday. Cup holders Sri Lankan Cavaliers were dumped out by Bharat Olympians. In damp conditions, skipper Tushar Shah made 61 in Bharat Olympians total of 136 in 44.3 overs whilst Bharat Patel chipped in with 24. Krishan Supeda produced the bowling performance of the day as he captured 7 wickets in his spell to end up with 5 -2 17-7 as holders were bowled out for 96. Bharat Olympians will meet United Sports in the next round following the latter's comfortable win over Young Puthoharis. Mohammed Akram Farouk (77) and Nabel Khalid (64) were the notable contributors in their 233-9 total in 45 overs. Young Puthoharis were restricted to 93 in 34.3 overs with Dilshan Singh Sidhu taking 4-21. EKTA elected to bat first against Ramgharia and could only muster 138 but scored at more than 6 an over. The high scoring rate was mainly due to Hassan Ullah (58) and Zakir Hussain (54). However, Tanuju Danee bowled 2 overs for the cost of only one run and picked up 4 wickets to leave EKTA's 200 plus target in tatters. Ramgharia eased to 139-5 in 33 overs to record their first MPCL win of the season as Tanuju Danee made 67. Rajput skipper Jesal Rathod was delighted by their performance against Muktajivan as they also recorded their first MPCL competition win for the season. Hiren Desai took 3-14 as Muktajivan were bowled out for 87 in 31.3 overs. Partik Patel than made 32 as Rajput reached 90-5 in 21.5 overs. Regency made 150-9 in 45 overs against Suraj with Hussain Katariwala making 35 and than dismissed Suraj for 103 to set up a match against Dharmaj in the next round. Padmanabhan Venkatraman (3-8) and Vinod Savani were the two stars of the Regency bowling attack. In the Bowl outs, North London Drifters beat Kingsbury Construction (1-0), Stanmore Jaffreys beat Lohana (2-1) and Embassy beat Capital (1-0). North London Drifters was 0-0 after the first ten players from both side failed to hit the stumps. Saeed Abbasi was the North London Drifter hero as he hit the stumps with their 11th ball. Youth Wing, Kondor, Centurion, Dharmaj and Young Lions all went through to the next round by winning the toss of a coin against Lankians, West Harrow, Welldon, Sayona and Magenta Security respectively.
