MPCL WEEKLY RESULTS
 
 

Greetings! Cricket Lovers

This year we drew East Sussex C/L in the first round of the Sovereign Cup; this was repeat of lat year when we lost to them at the same stage. Batting first, MPCL made 235 in 48.2 overs. Osama Dar provided one of the early highlights as he took 18 runs from a Beddis over before been run out for 25. None of the early batsman stayed long enough to build an innings as MPCL stuttered to 96-5 in 21 overs. Nandu Patel (52no) and quick 46 from Nabeel Shah gave MPCL some hope as they took the score over 200 in the 41st over. T. Lucas despite suffering some harsh treatment from the batsman moped up the lower order with 4-60 as MPCL were bowled out for 235.

Cox (73) and Adams (34) brought up the East Sussex 50 without too much trouble. Introduction of Udaya Kapugama (2-37) and Amir Ahmed (2-35) accounted for the top order as East Sussex progressed to 136-4 in the 30th over. Cox held the innings together for East Sussex, however there was little support for him. Nandu Patel (3-22) and Osama Dar (2-26) ensured that East Sussex were kept in check and were bowled out for 217 in 48.4 overs. Lasitha Gunasena took 3 catches and 2 stumpings for MPCL.

Middlesex Premier Cricket League won by 18 runs and will meet Eve Surrey Championship Premier division 1 in the next round on the 21st June 2006. Players wishing to play for the league side should contact Kris Perera, kperera@ikon.com.
