MPCL WEEKLY RESULTS

Greetings! Cricket Lovers

Last year's finalist, Embassy were knocked out of the cup by third division Kondor. Kondor battled hard for their 151 in 45 overs with Tirath Shukla (35) and Harshad Patel (25) providing the hard graft; Daud Haider took the bowling honours with 5-25. Embassy hadn't counted on the Kondor spirit as they dismissed for 133 as Sami Ali Haider took 4 for 33.

Neasden are the only team left in the cup who have previously lifted the trophy. Hari Balasubramaniam made 33 in Neasden's total of 176. Bhupendra Patel who took 5 wickets for the 2nd XI last week, followed up this week with same haul for 1st XI to inspire them to their first competition win this season. Naeem Yousaf's performance with bat and ball (50 and 3-40) was enough to give North London Drifters a 26 run victory against Anson. Bhavesh Vyas (5-29 and 30) provided Anson's best individual performance.

United Sports elected to bat first against Bharat Olympians and were bowled out for 161 with Rohan Salvi making 62. Kiran Patel (3-25) and Jay Kanbi (3-23) were the key wicket takers for Bharat Olympians. Nishant Makwana continued his good form with the bat as he made 47 and with Sanjeev Joshi making 45, Bharat Olympians booked their quarter finals place with more than 4 overs to spare. Imran Gulamhussain (72) and Fayaz Kermali (4-24) were the key to Stanmore Jaffrey's 14 run win against Indiana. Regency progressed to their quarter final place by defeating Dharmaj by 41 runs.

In the Baker Tilly plate competition, EKTA have set up a match against Sri Lankan Cavaliers following their defeat of Magenta Security. Magenta Security batted first, however only Nilesh Pandya (48) showed any determination with 48 in their total of 128. EKTA smashed the ball around with Vipul Patel (33) and Paresh Patel (30no) as they raced past Magenta total with 129-2 in 18.1 overs.

Sayona amassed 310 against Suraj this weekend, whereas last week they were bowled out for 117 last week. Manoj Patel made his first club 100 which included 4 sixes and 10 fours, whilst Ishtaq Ahmed chipped in with 60. Ishtaq Ahmed almost completed a hat-trick when his third victim escaped due to a dropped catch; however he did have the consolation of taking 5-39. Amit Patel made 43 for Suraj; however this was in vain as they lost by 146 runs. Sri Lankan Cavaliers went on better than Sayona as they defeated Young Puthoharis by 147 runs. Sri Lankan Cavalier's Udayakumar Kapugama made 68 in their total of 260 and than Duminda Abeyatunga captured 5-19.

The return of Viveck Khruna for the current plate holders Capital saw them record a convincing win over West Harrow. West Harrow were bowled out for132 as Praneet Sethi (4-44) and Amardeep Oberoi did most of the damage. Viveck Khruna than scored a quick fire 75no to give Capital a 9 wicket victory. An 83 opening stand between Naresh Jesani and Harshad Varsani set up Muktajivan for their 239-7 in 45 overs against Welldon. Ramya Udaydha of Welldon had other ideas as he hit a century and with Jigar Shah making 40, Welldon won by comfortably with 14 balls to spare.

In the 2nd XI competition, Welldon II were restricted to 110 after getting off to a flyer with 65 from 10 overs and a plentiful supply of extras from United Sports II. Aleem Jeetha took 4-9 for United Sports II, whilst Magan Sukha made 42 in their response of 114-3 in 25 overs.
