MATCH REPORT FOR 17 JUNE 2007

In the Middlesex Premier Cup, Indiana won the toss and put Lankians into bat with a wet seaming wicket. After 17 overs, Lankians were on the back foot after losing their first 7 wickets for 65 runs. A 9th wicket partnership of 53 runs between Ignitus Jayasundera and Ravi Subramaniam guided Lankians into 122 runs in 42 overs. Indiana's bowlers Divyesh Depala (4-26), Chetan Depala (2-13) and Ravindra Popatia (2-13) bowled well by making the most of the advantageous bowling conditions.

Indiana seemed well set to pull of a cup shock as they reached 90-5. However managed to loss their last 5 wickets with less than 30 required from13 overs as Sujith Kumarsinghe and Suranga Dalluwata took 3-14 and 2-5 respectively. Lankians will face Bharat Olympians in the next round who overcame Sayona by 76 runs; Aqas Ilias Abbas made 56 for Bharat Olympians.

West Harrow made 267-3 in 45 overs against Rajput Samaj II with notable contributions from Akash Christian 84, Anand Bakrania 76 and Dilip Thakker 47no. Experienced bowlers Dilip Thakker 0-3, Umesh Vakil 3-19 and Alpesh Patel 2-16 restricted Rajput Samaj II's to 107. West Harrow face Rajput Samaj 1st XI in the next round who defeated EKTA by 151 runs. Rajput Samaj scored 248-9 in 45 overs with Nilesh Patel top scoring on 78; Ketan Patel was EKTA's most successful bowler as he took 5-47. Useful bowling spells from Jaydip Mahida (5-24) and Niraj Desai (3-17) proved too much for EKTA as they finished on 97 all out.

Anson beat Stanmore Jaffrey's by 13 runs with Mohammed Abid Javed (64) and Darren Mathura (50) providing the highlights. In a similar vein, Sanjay Swaminaryan (75) and Harshad Varsani (4-43) provided the individual performances for Muktajivan in their 85 run win over Young Puthoharis. Rimal Patel of Lohana continues to provide their best individual performance as he made 44 and took 2-22 in their narrow 2 wicket victory over Ashley.

In the plate competition, Suresh Gopal made 62 and Gaurav Shiani took 5-18 for Kingsbury Construction in their 155 run win over South Harrow. Neasden continued their recent winning ways with a narrow 9 run win over Welldon. Embassy proved to be too strong for Kondor as they won by 34 runs. Batting first, Embassy were dismissed for 141 due to the bowling performances of Deepak Singh (4-18) and Harshad Patel (3-25). When Kondor batted, the Haider brothers Daud (5-16) and Ali (3-28) took centre stage with their bowling as Kondor could only manage 107 in 43 overs.
