MATCH
REPORT FOR 1 JULY 2007
The
heavy rain during the week leading up to the weekend's fixtures
resulted in many games being cancelled. Lankians must have wished
that their game was washed out as they lost ground in the relegation
battle. Lankians could manage only 129 against Embassy. Imran Haider
proved to be the match winner as he took 5-21 and than weighed in
with 75 as Embassy raced to a 4 wicket win with 19 overs to spare.
Kondor
succumbed to their first league defeat at the hands of local rivals
Muktajivan. Kondor batting first were restricted to 116 with Rishi
Kotecha providing the top score of 31. Muktajivan bowlers Bharat
Halai (3-28), Harshad Varsani (3-16) and Harilal Vekaria (2-9) all
bowled well in the prevailing conditions. Kondor always remained
in the game as Deepak Singh (2-13) and Dhiren Haria (3-17) both
showed great control. However, the team effort of Muktajivan was
enough to see them home by 3 wickets and 16 balls to spare.
In
division 3, Indiana dismissed Young Puthoharis for 87 in 37 overs
with Ravindra Popatia and Chetan Depala both taking 2-15 and 2-16
respectively. Indiana reached their target in 22 overs with Chetan
Depala making 40no. United Sports Rohan Salvi made a personal best
for the club with 180 against Regency in their total of 310-6 in
40 overs. Regency had no answers when they batted as they were dismissed
for a paltry 61. Akram Farouk (4-13), Sandeep Patel (3-31) and Jitu

REPORT FOR 24 JUNE 2007
The
wet and windy conditions throughout the weekend ensured that all
games were cancelled due to waterlogged grounds. This was the second
weekend when all matches were lost to the weather. Ashley have moved
into second spot in the 2nd XI competition ahead of Rajput Samaj
2nd XI; the latter were the only side this weekend that did not
have a league fixture.
