Report for 10 May 2009

The season got of to an eager start with all 13 games being played. Last year's champions, Rajput Samaj, had to contend with tough opponents, Lankians, in their first game. Rajput Samaj were first to bat and scored 201 for 8 in 40 overs. Yashraj Jethwa scored 40 runs, supported by Seetal Patel with 25. Lankians' bowlers, Arshad Joonoos took 2-28 and Vipula Gunewardena took 2-43. In response, Lankians were all out for 172 and Sanjeewa Wijetunga's brilliant 94 runs could not compete with the bowling of Bharat Damania 4-20.


Bharat Olympians were bowled out for 141, with Kamlesh Desai achieving 3-14, Mitual Vora 44 no and Hitesh Goswami 36 no, in all, a comfortable win for Anson. Indiana bowled West Harrow out for 126 but only managed to get 116 and were defeated in a low-scoring match. Sri Lankan Cavaliers scored 157 and had a comfortable win over Kondor, who were bowled out for 64 runs.

In Division 2, Hasmukh Vekaria's 66 runs bolstered Kingsbury Construction's high score of 228 against Dharmaj. In return, Dharmaj were bowled out for 189, Prinay Patel 65, Tapan Patel 4-49 was not enough to beat Kingsbury Construction. Muktajivan scored 206 for 6 wickets in their 40 overs. Anesh Patel 44, with Pramod Khokrai 35 and took 2-42. Shivam retaliated with 209 while losing only 5 wickets, Mayur Vaja contributed 60, Dharmendra Vaja 47 and Bhavyes Cantlal 36. United Sports were limited to 120 for 10 which Neasden passed easily with Ayaz Sayed's 48 to arrive at a 5 wicket victory. Tight bowling from Youth Wing as they dismissed Welldon for 94-10 in 28 overs. Jaymesh Patel 2-6, Ramesh Patel 3-18 and scoring 40 runs as Youth Wing seized an away-win with the last pair at the wicket with 26 overs to spare.

  


Tejpal Singh muscled in for Young Putoharis with 55 and 3-29, aided by Khushwinder Gill 77 no, contributing to their outstanding total of 257-6, in their victory over Baladia Youth Club who were dismissed for 125. Last year's Division 4 Champions, Neasden 2nd XI, retained their high scoring and attained 228-10 assisted by Amit Patel's 68. Tight bowling from Pragnesh Bharatia 3-11 and Jaimin Shah 2-15 pressurised South Harrow who were restricted to 156 with Chaminda Kuruppu 30 and Mihir Shah 38. Rajput Samaj 2nd XI were dismissed for 172-9 in 40 overs, Davendrasinh Rathod 47, Bhupendrasinh Zala 43. Lohana's Waris Deen and Harshal Patel respectively made 40 with Kumran Path 30 and Jiten Savani's 4-32 and Jeet Patel's 3-28 culminating in a win of 173-5 in 31.5 overs. Sayona's Ishtaq Ahmed 3-25, Samir Patel 2-25 and Mohammad Akbarally 2-7 helped bowl out DIU Community of Southall for 92 and then chased down the total in 20 overs to 96-8. Vivek Nayak 4-30 for DIU Community of Southall.

In Division 4, DIU Daredevils restricted Jaguar to 124, achieving the total losing 5 wickets. At one stage Diu Daredevils were 50-5 and although Patrick Acharaya took 4-21 for Jaguar, a win for Jaguar was not on the cards.
