Report for 24 May 2009

Anson inflicted a first league defeat of the season on West Harrow. West Harrow were bowled out for 111in 34 overs with Mehul Ashara and Hitesh Goswami taking 4-15 and 3-23 respectively. An undefeated 58 from Amit Gandhi ensured a comfortable 8 wicket win for Anson as they raced to 112-2 in 23 overs. Current champions Rajput Samaj posted 251-4 in 40 overs due to significant contributions from Nilesh Patel (83no), Pratik Patel (53) and Bharat Damania (46).


Indiana were than bowled out for a mere 87 in 24 overs as Bharat Damania recorded the best bowling figures for the day of 7-17; Bharat Patel chipped in with 3-21. Lankians late arrival cost them 5 overs as they made 140-5 in 35 overs with Suranga Dalwatte making 39 against Sri Lankan Cavaliers. SLC skipper Udayakumar Kapugama made 45 in their innings which was pegged back by Lankian's Sampath Prathapsinghe (5-21). Sri Lankan Cavaliers reached their target 141-6 in 38 overs. The match between Bharat Olympians and Kondor was not completed to a conclusion.

Prakash Nardani made 100 for Kingsbury Construction in their total of 260-6 in 40 overs against United Sports Club. Major contributions from skipper Jignesh Patel (84) and Rohan Salvi (94) resulted in United Sports chasing down the total with 9 balls to spare. Shivam made 219-8 in 40 overs with Bhavyesh Cantilal and Dharmendra vaja making 47 and 44 respectively against Youth Wing. Aval Patel (63) and Anish Shah (43) had set up Youth Wing needing 4 runs with 2 wickets remaining going into the last over. Shivam's Kishor Deugi picked up wickets with his 2nd and 3rd deliveries to secure a Shivam victory.

 


Ayaz Sayeed made 57 in Neasden's total of 207-6 in 40 overs against Muktajivan; the latter were than restricted to 161. Dharmaj were shot out for 79 by Welldon with Dipen Amin taking 3-5; Welldon passed their total with 6 wickets still intact.

In division 3, Young Puthoharis won comfortably against South Harrow. Dinesh Kuruppu (62no) and Jigar Parekh (34no) helped South Harrow post a respectable 200-9 in 40 overs. However, Young Puthoharis batsman Rahul Dewani (61) and Tejpal Singh (48) made light work of the total as YP's raced to 201-6 in 25.4 overs. Neasden II maintained their unbeaten run at the expense of Sayona. The trio of Jalu Patel 70, Tanuj Kumar 57 and Sagar Patel 47 helped Neasden to the day's highest run total of 295- 7 which they defended with ease to win by 103 runs. DIU Community of Southall bowled out Lohana for mere 70 in 21 overs with Amit Chagan (3-9), Vivek Nayak (3-13) and Devid Manilal (0-2) doing all the damage after the latter had elected to bat first. DIU made 71-4 in 12 overs to secure their victory. Davendrasinh Rathod made 73 as Rajput Samaj II were bowled out for 179 in 39.3 overs with Mahendra Mepani (3-23) taking the bowling honours for Baladia Youth Club. Paresh Nanji 42no ensured a Baladia win as they reached 180-9 in 39.4 overs in a nail biting encounter.

In the 2nd II competition, United Sports II managed to post 157-9 in 40 overs against DIU Daredevils with Prakash Kaft making 37, whilst Daredevils skipper Miteshkumar Lauchande picked up figures of 3-13. Opener Vimal Narendral (57) made the most of this initial luck as he posted 57 to set up an easy win with 158-6 in 22 overs. Jaguar came out on top with their encounter with London Lions. The Lions made 145 in 33 overs with Mateen Choudary (39) taking the batting honours whilst Jaguar's Mohit Patel took 3-25. A solid 69 from Pratik Acharya allowed Jaguar to make 148-4 in 22.2 overs.
