Report for 31 May 2009 - MPCL Cup

Last year's finalist Lankians were worthy winners against new comers DIU Daredevils. The latter made 215 in 43 overs as Suranga Dalawatta took 5-50. In response Sujith Kumarasinghe (102) and Sanjeewa Wijetunga (92) set up the win as Lankians raced to 215-2 in 22 overs. Indiana recorded the highest total of the day with 295-9 against South Harrow in 45 overs as Darshan Depala (92) and Chetan Depala (84) were the main contributors as Ali Khan took 4-65. When South Harrow replied, Mukesh Depala (3-8) and Darshan Depala (3-13) ensured that the former were bowled out for 66.


Young Puthoharis pulled off the shock result of the round by defeating former winners West Harrow. West Harrow made 169 in 24 overs with Sanjay Limbachia making 55. Young Puthoharis were led by Tejpal Singh (54) as they reached 170-9 in 29 overs. Bharat Damania (82) assisted Rajput Samaj in posting 282-6 in 45 overs against United Sports; the latter were bowled out for 176 in 28 overs despite 79 from Rohan Salvi. Hiren Desai picked up 4-9. Neasden's Ayaz Saeyed (70) continued his early season form with 70 in their total of 207 in 36.1 overs against Youth Wing. Hemant Patel took 4-22. When Youth Wing batted, Nayan Patel took 4-16 in restricting Youth Wing to 151 in 37.5 overs.

Duminda Abeytunga made 75 no in Sri Lankan Cavaliers win over Welldon. Bhavyesh Cantilal made 76no for Shivam in their total of 225 against Muktajivan for whom Pramod Khokhrai took 5-52. Shivam bowlers contained the Muktajivan batting to 210 despite 63 from Anesh Patel. Last year's plate finalist Dharmaj defeated Neasden II in a close encounter by 11 runs.

 



Sayona's Prakash Patel helped bowl out London Lions for 112 in 35 overs and than Jinesh Patel (60no) helped them smash their way to 113-2 in 12 overs. DIU of Southall Community restricted Bharat Olympians to 154 in 34 overs with Pravin Arjan taking 4-48. In their reply, DIU were bowled out for 128 in 22 overs. Waaris Deen made 44 as Lohana scrapped home by 3 wkts against Baladia. Rajput Samaj II could only manage 94 against Anson as Prashant Gandhi took 5-7; Anson knocked the runs off easily with Amit Gandhi making 47.
