Report for 5 July 2009

Sri Lankan Cavaliers posted 259-7 in 40 overs against Indiana with Duminda Abeythunga (78), Udayakumara Kapugama (75) and Raj Joseph (42) contributing 200. Indiana made a brave attempt to chase the total with Kaushik Doshi and Himanshu Depala both making 53, however Sampath Prathapasinghe (3-30) assisted in restricting them to 208 off 39.5 overs. West Harrow's Dilip Thakker made 50no in their total of 174-7 in 40 overs against league leaders Rajput Samaj.
Umesh Vakil make some early enrodes with 4-37, however Nilesh Patel 85 not out and Seetal Patel 40 not out had taken Rajput to 155-4 in 30 overs. The match remained uncompleted.


Hitesh Goswami made 40no in Anson's 6 wicket win over bottom of the table Kondor. Bharat Olympians secured a 5 run win over Lankians with Vishal Vakani (39) providing the top score in the match; the two go head to head in the their next match in the quarter final cup game.

Kingsbury Construction maintained their top position in Division 2 with a victory over Shivam by 34 runs. Kingsbury Construction batted 1st and scored 188 for 9 in 40 overs. KCCC total was helped by some wayward bowling from Shivam who contributed to the total by conceding 51 extras. In reply, Shivam started well but lost wickets at crucial points with Vinod Bhanderi (4-18) and Hasmukh Vekaria (3-20) bowling Shivam all out for 154 in 35.4 overs. Great work behind the stumps by wicket keeper Mahesh Vekaria resulted in him taking 5 catches and completing 2 stumpings.

 


Neasden are placed second following their comfortable win over Welldon. Welldon were bowled out for 105 in 32 overs, which Neasden chased down in 22 overs to reach 108-2 as Mitan Patel made 61no. Ramesh Patel (87) and Jigar Patel Jnr (60) helped Youth Wing to 257-9 in 40 overs against bottom placed Muktajivan; Pramod Khokhrai (4-47) was the pick of the bowlers. Muktajivan's Arun Jesani made 63no in vain as he ran out of partners in their reply of 179 in 29 overs. Dharmaj restricted United Sports to 162 in 36 overs with Kunal Patel taking 3-33; Rohan Salvi made 57. Dharmaj were bowled for 80 in 27 overs as Rishi Batra returned figures of 4-24.

Lohana's Kamal Patel took 4-40 as South Harrow were bowled out for 181 in 35 overs. Harshul Patel responded with 83 for Lohana; however this proved not to be enough as Sunil Vadodaria returned match winning figures of 5-26 in restricting Lohana to 170. Jalu Patel made 96 for Neasden II in their total of 238, however this proved to be insufficient as Rajput II led by Davendrasinh Rathod 47 and Rakesh Solanki 40 ensured they reached their target with 5 balls to spare. DIU Community of Southall were bowled out for 162 against Young Puthoharis with Sunny Singh providing the pick of the bowling performance of 4-11. Young Puthoharis found things just as difficult with Nitesh Mohanlal taking 4-20; however Amit Kumar made 49no to see them home by 2 wickets.

MTSCC continued from where they left off last week as they posted 282-5 in 40 overs against London Lions on this occasions. Jagath Gangeswaran 96 not out and Irshan Iqbal 86 were the principal run accumulators. In reply, the Lions were restricted to 218-8 in 40 overs.

The MPCL played Mid Essex Cricket League in the CCC cup. MPCL won the toss and elected to bat. Sanjeeva Wijetunga and Sanjay Limbachia opened the innings and put on 24 before Sanjay departed scoring 14. Wickets fell at regular intervals and at one stage we were 82 runs for 7 wickets. Yashraj joined opener Sanjeeva and steadied the innings supporting Sanjeeva and Yogendra Deva knocked quick 36 and Sanjeeva remained unbeaten on 68. We scored 157 all out in 37.2 overs. In reply Mid-Essex League had no difficulty in scoring winning runs. They scored 160 for 3 in 32.3 overs.
