Report for 13 September 2009

Rajput Samaj retained the division 1 title on the last day of the season as they won at West Harrow, whilst league leaders Bharat Olympians went down to Lankians. West Harrow managed to score 134 as Bharat Patel of Rajput took 5-25. When Rajput Samaj batted Bharat Damania (68) and skipper Jesal Rathod (30) scored as a brisk rate as they scored 138-2 in 28.1 overs.

Bharat Olympians got off to a flying start as 39 runs came within 6 overs with no alarms against Lankians. However, Fahad Mohammed struck in the 7th over as well as Ravi Subramanium taking one more in the 12th over. Bharat was well set for a big target half way through their innings only losing 3 wickets for 114 in 22 overs, but Suranga Dalluwatta (1-27) and Sankalpa Gunasekara (3-19) restricted them to a competitive total of 188 for 6 in 40 overs. Vishal Vakni top scored with 45 for Bharat Olympians.

In reply Sankalpa Gunasekara got quick fire of 27 runs in 18 balls as first wicket partnership of 50 runs came in 9 overs. The introduction of spinners paid immediate dividends as Sankalpa was caught behind backward point. Sanjeewa Wijetunga (49) and Sujith Kumarasinghe (29) consolidated the innings with 68 runs 2nd wicket partnership in 14 overs.
With the light beginning to fade a little both Sanjeewa and Sujith were out and the pressure began to mount on the in coming batsman as Dharmesh Patel picked up 3-37. 54 runs were needed in the last 7 overs when Suranga Dalluwatta walked into the wicket.

He nudged few singles in his first 5 balls and sent the next one for straight massive six and a four next two turning the momentum towards Lankians. Stephen Diloshan played vital role as he made sure that Suranga got as much as strike as tension started to build. 18 runs were needed in 16 balls but Suranga ensured that Lankians reach their target with 6 balls to spare adding unbroken 6th wicket partnership of 54 runs between himself and Diloshan.

Rukshan Warnakula's 75 was the highlight in Sri Lankan Cavaliers win over Indiana, whilst Kondor forfeited their game against Anson.

Neasden defeated Dharmaj by 3 wickets with the starring performance by Ashish Patel who took 4-34 to ensure Neasden were promoted as champions.
