YOUTH GROUP SECURES £600,000 FOOTBALL FUNDING |
A
disused playing field in Huddersfield is set to become a beacon for
community sport, following a £600,000 grant from the Football
Foundation. The grant will allow the Sikh Youth Sports Foundation
to restore the Warrenside Sports Complex, creating seven new pitches
at the ground for hundreds of young players to use every week.

SHOWCASES THE BEST ASIAN FOOTBALL TALENT |
Despite
having a large Asian population, and despite large percentages of
many football crowds being Asian, there are still very few professional
footballers of Asian origin in this country. Helping to produce successful
home-grown Asian talent is the AsiaEurope 'OneCulture' Football Festival,
which took place on 1 & 2 October 2005 in Burnley. Pictured here

KHAN SECURES 9TH PLACE IN A1 GRAND PRIX |
British
Asian racing driver, Adam Khan qualified 8th out of 25 drivers on
the Saturday 21 September 2005 at Brands Hatch, came 7th in the Sprint
race, and was running in fourth in the main race until a problem with
his pit stop dropped him three laps. Adam fought back though, finishing
13th for the race and 9th overall. A very commendable result and demonstrating
his ability to run right at the front in future races.

| 'EVERDAY
SPORT' TARGETS THE ASIAN COMMUNITY |
The
'Everyday Sport' campaign was launched on Thursday 15th September
2005 in London.The campaign encourages people to build physical activity
and sport into their everyday lives and is set to get England moving
in the battle against obesity and in the countdown to London 2012.
Young Asian children from Marion Richardson Primary School, E1, showcased
an array of everyday sporting activites from tennis and cricket to
rugby union.

HENRY SPEAKS UP AGAINST RACISM |
Arsenal
skipper Thierry Henry has welcomed a new partnership providing investment
to help tackle racism throughout Europe. The proceeds of the sales
of 'Stand Up Speak Up' wristbands will now be invested by The Football
Foundation into community programmes and initiatives to support projects
that aim to combat racism in football.

ANNOUNCES MAJOR INVESTMENT IN SPORT |
Sporting
initiatives that help integrate Britain's diverse communities will
receive over £2 million in funding the Commission for Racial
Equality (CRE) announced today. Speaking at the CRE's conference 'Building
an Integrated Society - Delivering Good Race Relations', Trevor Phillips,
CRE Chair, said: "In the run up to the 2012 Olympic Games in
London we want young people to discover that they share a passion
for sport".

DEFEAT JEWISH RUGBY TEAM |
Manchester's
Broughton Park hosted an historic rugby event on Sunday 19 June when
the national Jewish squad the British Zions met the national Asian
squad the B.A.R.A. (British Asian Rugby Association). The seniors
match, a closely-fought contest was won by B.A.R.A. with 14-9 score.

KHAN SUPPORTS SEMSA |
Boxer,
Amir Khan is now taking this love for sports to the next level. He
has pledged his full support to SEMSA - the Scottish Ethnic Minority
Sports Association. SEMSA is a not-for-profit organisation run by
volunteers from the Black Minority Ethnic Communities living in Scotland.
In recent years, a career or even an interest in sport has become
increasingly popular especially for individuals from Black and Ethnic
Minority backgrounds.

STILL TIME TO BACK OUR BID' SAYS TONY BLAIR |
Prime
Minister, Tony Blair, urged the nation to support London's Olympic
Bid in a statement saying that there's still time to back our bid.
He said "as many of you will know, I am a passionate supporter
of London's bid to bring the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to
the UK for the first time in 64 years.
