Clad
in leather pants and a leopard-print blouse, pop singer Rageshwari
danced to Shakira's popular number "Hips don't lie" as
she showcased Deepika Gehani's collections revealing the "wild
side of women" at the Wills Fashion Week here Friday. Gehani's
compilation, named "Unleashed", is a tribute to the 21st
century woman - who has transformed from a shy person to a woman
with strength, speed, agility and the ultra keen senses of a cat.
"My
collection is a tribute to the contemporary confident woman of today.
I have named it 'Unleashed' as it reveals the wild side of women.
Wild doesn't mean aggressive but it is about her newfound prowess
and feline intuition. She is a sleek and stealthy creature, balancing
her life gracefully between her many responsibilities - those of
being a daughter, wife, mother and so on. Like any wildcat, she
is dangerous, elusive and untamed, yet responsible, dependable and
maternal," she said at the ongoing Wills Lifestyle India Fashion
Week (WIFW).
"Rageshwari
is a beautiful woman of today, she is sexy and full of zest and
enthusiasm for life. She was just perfect to be my muse," Deepika
told IANS.
Her
line is marked with leopard and zebra prints on soft, cascading
fabrics like satin, Lycra, net, georgette. The embellishments are
of muted glass beads, glistening swarovski, metallic embroidery
and antique zardozi. The collection offers dresses of varied lengths,
mermaid skirts, leggies and blouses of various styles. "The
silhouettes are fitted, sexy, and elegant. When you wear the dresses
they give you an attitude," added Deepika. The outfits are
accessorized with chunky silver chains and bangles, and gold lace.
