ABOUT ROHIT BAL

Rohit BalRohit Bal is the most celebrated designer in India today. Dubbed as 'India's Master of fabric and fantasy' by Time Magazine, he now has an A-List following with celebrities like Uma Thurman, Cindy Crawford, Pamela Anderson, Naomi Campbell and Anna Kournikova as clients.

Intensely concerned with design as an art form, he draws upon history, fantasy and folklore to create his masterpieces, which retail for up to 10,000 USD. Drawing on history, fantasy and folklore for inspiration, the designer's sense of aesthetics is finely honed, with each of his garments handcrafted to perfection with meticulous attention to detail. He has access to the best the industry has to offer in terms of materials and workmanship. He also has his own factories, creating materials that are utterly unique to him.

Graduating from Delhi's St. Stephen's College with a first class (Hons.) degree in History, the compulsive designer worked for few years with his brother's export company. In1990 he created his first line - traditional designer wear from men and the rest, indeed, is history.

He has had successful stand alone fashion shows in New York, London, Paris, Dubai, Singapore, Mauritius, Sao Paolo and all the major cities in India including New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Calcutta, to name a few.

Rohit has won many accolades including IFA Designer of the Year in 2001 and 2004. He was recently commissioned to revamp the uniforms for the British Airways South Asian crew. Rohit was also recently credited in the Daily Mail and Hello Magazine for dressing Nancy Dell'Olio at the Asian Woman of Achievement Awards 2005.

Rohit Bal has six stand alone boutiques in Delhi, Bombay and Bangalore as well as selling to the top independent stores across India. He now wants to make his clothes more accessible and affordable, so many more people will be able to buy and wear his clothes. This he says "will make me happy."
