Indra
Nooyi, the India-born chief executive of PepsiCo, received $14.74
million in compensation in 2007, her first full year as head of the
world's second-largest soft drink maker. Her 2007 compensation value
more than doubled the $6.3 million she was paid in 2006, when she
served as Pepsi's chief financial officer for most of that year before
taking over the top spot in October 2006.

| Indian
dock workers in US allege surveillance |
Nearly
100 Indian workers who broke an alleged human trafficking racket and
are marching from New Orleans to Washington, D.C., to meet the Indian
ambassador, have alleged surveillance by US immigration authorities.
The workers say they have faced surveillance and harassment by immigration
officials since the beginning of their "satyagraha" march
last Tuesday.

Warren
Buffet-promoted private jet company NetJets is entering India to tap
the fast-growing market here, said its executive vice president Graeme
Weston. NetJets, which sells fractional ownership in private jets
to individuals and companies, has a fleet of 751 aircraft including
Gulf stream & Boeing jets.

professional visas creating jobs in US: study |
Confirming
Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates' contention that an arbitrary cap on
H-1B visas is forcing them to outsource jobs, a new study shows US
technology companies average more than 470 job openings for skilled
positions while defence companies have more than 1,265 each. The study
also shows that for every H-1B position requested companies increase
their employment by five workers.

Indian award for Sam Pitroda |
The
Canada-India Foundation (CIF) has decided to honour Indian Knowledge
Commission chairman Sam Pitroda with the first annual Global Indian
Award for pioneering the telecom revolution in India. Called the CIF
Chanchlani Global Indian Award, it carries $50,000 in cash and a trophy.
The award will be conferred on Pitroda by former Indian president
A.P.J. Abdul Kalam at a gala dinner on April 18, 2008.

| Man
behind Bose audio systems in Inventors' Hall of Fame |
Amar
Bose, a pioneer in modern acoustics who is known for the high-end
audio products bearing his name, has been inducted into the National
Inventors Hall of Fame in the US, which has previously honoured Thomas
Edison, Graham Bell and the Wright Brothers. Born in the US to a Bengali
father and a German mother, Bose's name is in the 2008 list of 18
inventors to be honoured.

| Indian
dock workers protest in US; embassy sends probe team |
Some
of the 500 Indian dock workers who filed a lawsuit accusing their
US employer and recruiters of human trafficking held a rally in New
Orleans, even as India Tuesday suspended the licenses of two Indian
recruiting agents who sent the workers to the US. Meanwhile, the Indian
embassy in decided to send a fact-finding team.
