IAAC ERASING BORDERS EXHIBITION 2008, 12 MARCH - OCTOBER

With Indian contemporary art at an all time high, the Indian Diaspora artists in the U.S. have steadily gained momentum and claimed their turf. The IAAC is gearing up for its fifth annual exhibition entitled ‘Erasing Borders 2008: Exhibition of Contemporary Indian Art of the Diaspora’ featuring works by 40 artists, that will tour the USA.

SALE OF MODERN SOUTH ASIAN ART NETS OVER $10M

Today’s (Sept 20, 2007) sale of South Asian Modern and Contemporary Art at auction house Christie's in New York realized $10.1 million, established 12 new world auction records and was led by Tyeb Mehta’s Mahisasura, at $1.1 million. CHRISTIE’S SALE OF INDIAN ART RAISES $17 MILLION

Works by Francis Newton Souza were among the top lots for Christie's Sale of Modern Indian Art in New York.

Christie's New York sale of Modern and Contemporary Indian Art held on 20 September 2006 totaled $17,811,360 million, the highest total ever achieved in the field. It also confirms the spectacular rise of Indian art - this sale's top lot was Francis Newton Souza’s Man and Woman which realized $1,360,000 and was bought by an Indian hedge fund manager.
