This year will mark the 5th anniversary of the Boston Bhangra Competition being held on Saturday November 15th 2008 in Boston, MA. Special performances this year include the legendary Alaap! His hit songs include Makhna, Jind Mahi, Bhabiye Ne Bhabiye, Khabardar, Cham Cham Nachdi, and many more.

About Alaap

Channi Singh is founder, lead singer, composer, music director, writer and director of world-renowned Bhangra band Alaap. They are one of the Pioneers of the modern Bhangra movement across the world. Alaap is featured in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most successful and longest running band, led by Channi Singh, for most Bhangra recordings produced.

Alaap/Channi has released and produced 26 non films albums so far (inclusive of various remixes) in various languages such as Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Pashto and Arabic which include esteemed artists like Asha Bhosle and Anuradha Paudwal from the Bollywood industry. He has contributed greatly in the success of two well-known radio stations (92.3 The Beat in LA and Jam'n 94.5 in Boston) and worked with countless celebrities. His personality can be described as determined, strong-minded, hard worker, creative, adaptive, yet reliable, honest, funny, warm, and charming. Currently Dj Pup Dawg is a mixer and personality of the number one morning show in Boston. "Ramiro & Pebbles Morning Show" and recently was named the Music Director of Jam'n 945! Dj Pup Dawg also host a star studded show on Desi Hits.
