KUTCHERI, JUNE 9 & 10, NYC |
Urban
Kutcheri is a unique endeavor by New York based Indian classical artists
who have come together to present their traditions in a modern light.
The program presents classical Bharatanatyam and Carnatic music juxtaposed
with contemporary imagery and word. Kutcheri means "a performance
environment," and as such, the core of the program is the presentation
of each classical item in its own context.

Community Arts Initiative presents "Mosaic', the first South
Asian Heritage Festival in the City of Mississauga from May 20th to
21st 2006. The festival is part of the South Asian Heritage month.
Performances by Kiran Ahluwalia, Lata Pada, Sohail Rana and Divya
Kumar will take place at Living Arts Centre.

returns from April 12 to May 2006. Showcasing some of the funniest

you laughing on the floor and features Paul Varghese, Raj Sharma,
Tapan Trivedi and Dan Nainan.

DANCE CO. PRESENTS 'GLOW, APR 14-16
2006 |
Glow
is a Nayikas multimedia, experimental dance theater project. It uses
traditional dance with Indian cinematic, comic book, and calendar
art images to aid in visually mapping elements of popular culture
to abstract classical aesthetic forms. It explores spirituality and
sensuality through the dancer's body. 'Glow' runs from April 14-16
2006 in New York.

2005 ArtWallah Festival, the premier summer South Asian diasporic
arts event, featuring the works of over 80 artists over the course
of four days kicks off on Thursday, July 7th. This year, ArtWallah
Festival organizers expect over 3000 patrons to attend the mélange
of film, dance, theater, literature, visual arts, music, panels, and
workshops.
