BUSH TO WELCOME MANMOHAN SINGH TO THE WHITE HOUSE
(June 23, 2005). By Venkatasrinivas Polavarapu (Gani Pola)

Indian President Manmohan Singh with American President George Bush.Washington, DC: President Bush will welcome India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to the White House on July 18 2005. The two leaders will discuss all aspects of U.S.-India bilateral relations including energy, economic, and strategic elements. The visit between Bush and Singh marks the next stage in expanding the U.S.-India relationship and builds on recent high-level exchanges and initiatives between the two governments.

Senior U.S. and Indian officials met in Washington June 1 to launch a reinvigorated U.S.- Indian economic dialogue. Allan Hubbard, assistant to the president for economic policy and director of the National Economic Council (NEC), and Montek Singh Ahluwalia, deputy chairman of India’s planning commission, agreed that the two governments should make progress on trade, commerce, environment and energy to promote bilateral trade and investment. The two officials agreed to add an information and communication technology component to the dialogue, and to find ways to involve U.S. and India private sector input in the discussions.
